Cannes Lions for Eurovision-2017 Branding

Incredible news: the lion has arrived in Ukraine. And we are talking not about an animal, king of beasts, but about a true treasure that is a reason to be proud.

The Kyiv Creative Agency “Banda Agency” and the design studio “Republique” brought to Ukraine a bronze statue of the “Cannes Lions” Festival in the “Design Lions” category for Eurovision-2017 branding. Notably that this award is the first statue in the advertising category for Ukraine. Let’s consider the success of Ukrainian creative agency.

Cannes Lions International Advertising Festival is considered to be the most authoritative international festival of advertising producers. It lasts approximately 5 - 7 days, and there are various categories where countries can get its lion. The category “Design Lions” appeared in 2008 that contributed to making professionals strive for this award.

Banda Agency is a creative full cycle advertising agency, which was founded in 2011. According to the results of the global rating effectiveness, the agency became the most effective independent agency in the world. Such a loud statement can be proved by Banda’s portfolio that encompasses more than 200 successful projects with “giants” of a market.

The project that won the “Cannes Lions” is a large-scale and revolutionary project, especially in the context of the conservatism of Eurovision. We will remind that “Banda Agency” and the design studio “Republique” got a lion for a design of advertising campaign of Eurovision 2017 that took place in Ukraine. The agency came up with an idea of making a traditional Ukrainian necklace as Eurovision symbol. The image of the necklace conveys the main concept - the various elements form and fill together creating a unique unity. The abstract patterns used in the logo are universal, but at the same time, they serve as indicators of the traditional Ukrainian decoration.

The presence of the "Cannes Lion" in Ukraine sets a certain level, to which all advertising agencies will strive. This will affect the level of the market and obviously, the level of design will grow as well. And everyone will benefit from this.

We believe that this lion is not the last statue brought to Ukraine. And there are many Ukrainian teams who are ready to conquer the world by new impressive projects.
