The institute is focused on the latest research in the field of molecular biology and genetics including structural and functional genomics; proteomics and protein engineering; molecular and cell biotechnology; bioinformatics, computer simulation, and design. The main areas of research encompass the following: - structural and functional genomics; - proteomics and protein engineering; - molecular and cell biotechnology; - bioinformatics, computer simulation, and design. Moreover, the Institute publishes four scientific editions: - Biopolymers and Cell - Ukrainica Bioorganica Acta - Bulletin of the Ukrainian Society of Genetics and Breeders - collection of scientific works "Factors of Experimental Evolution of Organisms"
